BECHEM, GHANA – February 14, 2026
As part of its centenary celebrations, St. Joseph Parish, Bechem hosted a historic Mass Wedding for 25 couples on Valentine’s Day. The celebration formed a key highlight of the parish’s 100th anniversary under the theme: “Celebrating 100 Years: Honouring the Past, Appreciating the Present and Embracing the Future.”
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Goaso, Monsignor Matthew Kwaku Addai. He was joined by several priests from across the diocese.
In his homily, Msgr. Addai focused on the permanence and commitment that define Christian marriage. He reminded the couples that matrimony is a sacred covenant rooted in God’s faithful love, calling them to lifelong fidelity, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to one another. Their vows, he noted, serve as a powerful witness to enduring love and stability in today’s world.
The liturgy included the solemn declaration of consent, the blessing and exchange of rings, and the Nuptial Blessing, invoking God’s grace upon the couples’ shared vocation. Enriched by Ghanaian hymns and vibrant participation of the faithful, the celebration was both reverent and joyful.
By choosing February 14, the parish transformed a global day associated with romance into a sacred celebration of divine love. As the newly married couples processed out in jubilation, they embodied the centenary theme—honouring the faith handed down to them, celebrating the grace of the present moment, and embracing the future with hope and commitment. The climax would be on 2nd May, 2026.
