The Catholic Women Association (CWA) Young Adults in the Goaso Diocese have successfully concluded their four-day annual congress on Sunday, May 4, 2025, with a vibrant and spirit-filled celebration at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Terchire.
Held under the theme: “The Growth of the Catholic Church in Ghana: My Responsibility as a Member of the Catholic Women Association Young Adult,” the congress brought together young Catholic women from across the diocese for prayer, formation, fellowship, and leadership development.
The event, which began on Thursday, May 1, featured a rich blend of spiritual, educational, and recreational activities. Each day was rooted in prayer, beginning with Marian devotions and Holy Mass. Participants also engaged in sessions such as a health walk and aerobics, general cleaning, and recreational activities including music and games, all of which fostered a spirit of community and joyful interaction.
A major highlight was the official opening ceremony, held on Friday, May 2, which was graced by the Bishop of the Goaso Diocese, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene. The Bishop commended the young women for their active participation and encouraged them to embrace their role in the growth and life of the Church.
As part of the opening ceremony, Rev. Fr. Ransford Marfo delivered a powerful presentation on the theme, urging participants to take responsibility for evangelization, service, and leadership in their parishes and communities. His presentation was followed by an engaging question-and-answer session.
The congress also included a health talk, a presentation on the history of the Catholic Women Association, a general meeting, and a workshop offering practical tools for faith-based leadership. A solemn initiation ceremony welcomed new members into the association.
The event culminated in the celebration of Holy Mass, presided over by the Vicar General of the Goaso Diocese, Monsignor Matthew Kwaku Addai, and concelebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Dominic Owusu Afriyie, and Rev. Fr. Lawrence Adu-Gyamfi.
In his homily, Monsignor Addai reflected on John 21:1–19, emphasizing forgiveness and the restorative encounter between Jesus and Peter. He encouraged the young women to be agents of mercy, willing to give others second chances and not hold people to their past mistakes, just as Jesus did with Peter.
In her closing remarks, the Young Adults’ Coordinator, Madam Joana Yaa Nkansah, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Bishop, priests, resource persons, the host parish, and all who contributed to the success of the congress. She urged the participants to go forth renewed and inspired, living out the mission of the Church with faith, love, and responsibility.
The congress ended on a high note, leaving participants spiritually empowered and more committed to their roles in the growth of the Catholic Church in Ghana.
